During
his career as an undergraduate student at Miami University of Ohio, Trenton
Polke worked a multitude of summer jobs, including being an associate at a
local restaurant in his hometown and even operating his own business in lawn
care.
One
experience that Trenton Polke believes was particularly valuable was his work
as an intern. During his internship, Trenton Polke worked as a financial
analyst. This meant that he gained valuable experience for his study in the
Farmer School of Business and for jobs in the future. As a financial analyst, Trenton
Polke did exactly that: he analyzed many different product accounts, and
additionally worked to format spreadsheets to keep track of the company’s
records.
Trenton
Polke’s experience as an internship so valuable that he believes anyone in
college, or even someone who has just graduated, who has the capability to work
as an intern should do it. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to learn
more about your field and gain work experience that will aid you in the future,
and not just as a resume builder. Trenton Polke believes that as
an intern you will expand on the things you learn in school, building on skills
that will help you with getting a leg up on your competition when you pursue
opportunities in the future.
According
to Trenton Polke, getting an internship will also help you establish a
relationship with a company. When you do great work as an intern, says Trenton
Polke, the company may take notice of you and choose to hire you in the future.
Working as an intern is a great way to get your foot in the door.
