Trenton Polke’s Moving Tips

Trenton Polke knows as well as anyone who has ever moved away from home how hard the moving process can be. When Trenton Polke left his home state to attend college at Miami University of Ohio, he left behind his family, friends, and even his beloved pets. But Trenton Polke knows that moving can also create opportunities.

For Trenton Polke, this move in particular was an important one, because it meant he was leaving home to further his education, an opportunity that was not available to him in his hometown. Trenton Polke was excited to get away, meet new people, and learn a lot in while away at college. In the process, Trenton Polke also learned a lot about moving. Here, he shares a little bit of advice from his learning experience.

·         Trenton Polke does not think that you have to bring everything with you. In fact, it can be both fun and profitable to hold a yard or garage sale a month or two before you leave. Trenton Polke got rid of several books, a lava lamp, and many other random items that brought him some extra spending money and lightened his load.
·         Before you go, Trenton Polke also recommends that you give back anything you may have borrowed. If you borrowed a movie from a friend, Trenton Polke says to give it back. Make sure you don’t owe any library books or overdue fines, either!
·         Pack strategically and start early so you aren’t rushing out to buy more cardboard boxes at the last minute. In fact, Trenton Polke recommends starting to save cardboard boxes early on. Even shoeboxes can be great for storage, notes Trenton Polke.
·         Hold a going away party. Trenton Polke, as a naturally sociable person, knew he would miss his friends and family when he went away to college. For this reason, he chose to gather his loved ones together before he and many of his peers left the area to move on to bigger things.
